Oral Pathology & Microbiology
- The specialty imparts knowledge of basic anatomy, histology and embryology of oral and peri-oral structures of the human body and the diseases associated with it.
- Represents the combination of basic sciences and clinical dentistry.
- Enhances the psychomotor skills of the undergraduate students by molding the carving skills needed to practice clinical dentistry.
- Imparts knowledge for diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial pathologies through didactic lectures ,simulated teaching methodologies including models,casts and specimens displayed in a well fabricated museum and clinical evaluation of patients.
- Provides effective services through diagnostic procedures like hematology, cytopathology, histopathology and oncopathology.
- Offers University recognized higher education programs like PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
- Advanced synoptic reporting of oncopathological specimens.
- Delivering comprehensive diagnostic services through hematology,cytopathology,histopathology and consultancy.
- Supporting diagnostic pathology through Special Staining and Immunohistochemical Analysis.
- Student centric teaching is promoted by relay of histopathological slides through digital microscopy, availability of image analysis software and a museum with assemblage of rare specimens.
- Research activities facilitated by provision of high end equipments like penta head microscope,research microscope with attachments of dark field and polarizing microscopy and a stereomicroscope.
