On 1st August 2011 “oral hygiene day” was celebrated in which around 440 school children’s were screened and health education lecture was provided with the help of audiovisual aid.

Workshop on research methodology and biostatistics was held on 25-27 august 2011.

Oral Health Awareness, Status and Treatment Needs among Police Personnel and their Families in Navi Mumbai

The Police force is the internal protection force of our country. They work day in and day out trying to keep us secure and make our life comfortable and safe. On holidays and festivals, they are in uniform up and about to make our celebration enjoyable and peaceful. They Toil night and day, with a smile on their faces. We, here at the MGM Dental college, wanted to make a difference in their lives and make a small contribution to the police force of  Navi Mumbai. The Dean, Dr. Sabita Ram was instrumental in planning the project and Dr. Zohara Charania & Dr. Amit Chaudhari put their heart and soul into the project, to make it viable and took up the marathon task of Dental Health checkup & Treatment of the Police Force in Navi Mumbai. Dr. Sudhir Kadam and the Management has provided complete support for this project.

Project was inaugurated on 1st august 2011 by our honorable police commissioner Mr. Javed. Ahmed and implemented in the month of Sept 2011 and  is expected to complete by December 2012.

Tobacco Intervention Initiative center

Cancer is one of the major threats to health care services in the developing world especially in India. According to the World Health Report 2004, cancer accounted for 8 million deaths in 2003 and it is estimated that the overall number of new cases will rise by 50% in the next 20 years. The prevalence of oral cancer is particularly high among men, the eighth most common cancer worldwide. Consumption of tobacco is a major risk factor for mortality. Recent shifts in global tobacco consumption indicate that an estimated 930 million of the world’s 1.1 billion smokers live in developing countries, with 182 million in India alone

Keeping these points in the mind, MGM Dental College and Hospital is the first college in India to begin with Tobacco Intervention Initiative centre. Tobacco Intervention Initiative centre inaugurate on 31st May 2011 with auspicious hand of Dr. Dinesh Daftari and Dr. Ashok Dhobale. Tobacco Intervention Initiative centre was an effort superheated by  Director Dr. Sudhir Kadam, Dean Dr. Sabita Ram, Dr Jyotsna Galinde, Dr. LS. Poonja and was supported by Indian Dental Association

This centre is strategically located on the ground floor of medical college to spread the awareness regarding tobacco ill health effect. This centre aims at screening of the patients for tobacco addiction, rendering counseling, creating awareness by delivering lectures about tobacco related diseases, tobacco cessation services areas that the institution encompasses.
